Jay Hurt

RelaDyne Founder, The Hurt Company

Jay Hurt developed The Hurt Company from a small lubricant distribution business into a larger and more profitable fully diversified lubrication systems company. He pioneered several industry-leading equipment reliability programs in the petrochemical, manufacturing, and coal mining industry sectors. During his tenure, the company has consistently been a Chevron Signature Class marketer since the program’s creation and a US Small Business Administration “Small Business Sub-Contractor of the Year” nominee. In 2008 the company was ranked among the Houston Chronicle’s top 100 largest privately held businesses in Houston.

Jay has more than two decades of business experience in operations, sales, marketing, and finance in the lubricants and reliability-related services business sector. He began his career in sales management with Procter & Gamble before joining The Hurt Company in Houston, Texas, a third-generation family business, in 1991. There he served as a driving force in the company’s development, culminating in being named President and Chief Executive Officer in 2007.

Upon forming RelaDyne, Jay Hurt led the strategic development of RelaDyne’s Field Reliability Management (FRM) solutions, now RelaDyne Reliability Services. He was responsible for sales and execution of reliability services and managed the company’s reliability services team, consisting of Reliability Solutions Specialists, Lubrication Engineers, and Field Technicians who consult with customers and implement reliability-centered solutions.

Throughout his career, Jay has served in a variety of roles with trade and professional organizations, including President of the Chevron Texaco Petroleum Marketers Association, Chairman of the Chevron Marketers Council, and active participant in many industry-related task forces and work committees. In addition to his professional service, he is also President and Chair of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation.

Jay received a Bachelor of Arts in economics and humanities from Davidson College.
